|XMAS EATING TIPS |
With Tony Ferguson
1. Eat slowly and savour your food. This will allow you to enjoy your meal more and will also help you to control your appetite. Remember it takes 20 minutes for the body to register that you are full, so take your time as there are no taste buds in your stomach.
2. Don’t arrive at your xmas function starving. Having a glass of water and a piece of fruit prior to the function can help minimise overeating!
3. Looking for healthy dessert options? Try a fresh fruit salad with diet jelly or a Tony Ferguson shake made into a custard with chopped fruit, an ice-cream with no added sugar, or a simple yoghurt.
4. Watch your portion sizes - healthier options are not always available, so if indulging a little is a must, why not share or have a smaller portion size, that way you don’t miss out but aren’t overdoing it either.
5. Limit alcohol! Alcohol provides empty kilojoules that can lead to stacking on the kilos if not consumed in moderation
Australia’s weight loss authority, Tony Ferguson is set to launch another exciting cook book in November, titled Seasonal Flavours. The must-have health-food bible features 60 delicious low GI recipes based on the four seasons; summer, winter, spring and autumn.
