Vintage Alice gets you hooked from the first page, and has a mixture of romance, adventure, fashion and friendship. It’s a story about a young and very broke Alice, a woman trying to achieve her dreams of creating a successful fashion label with no cash flow.
Alice and her boyfriend Nash decide to move to Australia to “change their lives” but things don’t work out as they had planned and Alice ends up leaving her home of England for the land down under…all by herself.
I have mixed emotions about this book, Alice is an addictive character and you can’t help wanting her to make it. I loved her fashion journey and the way the designs came to life in my imagination. The Australian references made me appreciate our beautiful country and the generosity of the people who live here and for the most part was accurate.

Without giving too much away, I couldn’t help feeling as if Alice’s new romance was a little creepy no matter how many times I was assured they weren’t blood related. I would have liked to hear more about Alice’s label and wish it had an even stronger fashion emphasis.
Vintage Alice is very well written and the quirky characters were bold and original. The book had different twists and turns and for once I wasn’t able to predict exactly what would happen next.
I look forward to reading more from Jessica Adams, and recommend snuggling up with a copy of Vintage Alice on a cold winter’s night.
Vintage Alice is available from all good bookstores.
